MEDIA

Norman Yap MediaIn my career, I have been fortunate to have my work photographed, blogged, reviewed, exhibited and used as advertising for shows.  My own practice has been filmed and written about by students, bloggers and journalists from all walks of life including a very unexpected profile appearing in an inflight magazine of a Norwegian national airline.  One year, as I was working on producing a body of work for the show season, friends kept telling me I was all over London.  I didn’t understand as I was in the studio all day and sometimes all night until I took the tube to get to the show at Kew to understand that images of my work were being used to advertise the show…and were plastered all over the London Underground network of stations. I stood there gawping till a passing plumber offered to take the photo.

I am immensely grateful to the organisation and individuals who have entrusted me with presenting a complex blend of messages through the work.  I will always do nothing but my best in meeting any challenge and in working to the best of my ability with any team.

I am included in the new edition of British Studio Potters’ Marks, published by A&C Black and am grateful to be listed with the people I have admired for a very long time.

My first French profile appeared in Cote Maison here

In 2019 I was invited to be part of a writing team for Complete Pottery Techniques, a book published by Dorling Kindersley (part of the Random House, Penguin Group).  I wrote on reduction firing but ended up writing up other sections and contributing glaze recipes too.  The whole experience was nothing short of fulfilling.
